Ultrasonic testing (UT) has been an accepted practice of inspection in industrial environments for decades. Our new textbook, titled Industrial Ultrasonic Inspection Levels 1 & 2, is designed to meet and exceed ISO 9712 training requirements for Level 1 and 2 certification. The material presented in this book will provide readers with all the basic knowledge of the theory behind elastic wave propagation and its uses through easy to read text and clear pictorial descriptors. The second edition features a new lab appendix and foreword by Robert Ginzel.

This book is designed for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technicians, engineers, and technical people interested in learning Eddy Current Array (ECA) principles and applications. The main goal is to outline the material needed for a first course in eddy current array technology.
In order to understand eddy current array technology, a fundamental knowledge of conventional eddy current testing theory is required. All of the important aspects of conventional eddy current theory, including transmit-receive coil pairs, are touched on at the beginning; and eddy current probes, array elements, and types of array probes are discussed herein in detail.
ECA testing is made possible with the use of multiplexing technology. Multiplexing theory, and how it applies to array technology, is explained in this book. C-Scans, created by encoding eddy current data, are a major advancement of conventional ET. Types of encoders and their operation, as well as how data encoding enables the creation of C-Scans, are illustrated.
Steps necessary to accomplish high quality ECA inspections, including scan plan development, ECA instrument calibration, scanning, analyzing, and reporting, are outlined. Also covered is the ECA analysis software operation, along with a discussion of industrial applications and weld inspection guidelines.

Since 2005, the pipeline AUT has seen several advances, including a higher respect for phased array systems, formalised qualification processes for systems and an institutionalised certification programme devoted to pipeline AUT operators. The number of personnel now involved in pipeline AUT, as compared to just ten years ago has increased by at least a factor of 10. Corresponding to increased personnel is the potential that there is a wider spread of competence of those involved in the industry. This book provides a useful single source for explanations of pipeline AUT details that readers may not find in more general books on ultrasonic testing.

This handbook will provide technicians, students and instructors a single source publication for the fundamentals involved in TOFD. The topics covered in this handbook generally follow the requirements set out in the CSWIP document for TOFD training requirements. Where background fundamentals are deemed useful to explain pertinent aspects of TOFD, the basics will be explained with adequate detail.
To enhance the usefulness of this text as a training manual, problem solving exercises have been included. These assignments are typical of those questions and assignments that would be presented in a classroom environment and similar to those that may be used in certification examinations. This book comes in hardcover with lamination for greater durability. Many 2D and 3D illustrations are included to help the reader understand TOFD concepts and provide virtual presentation of TOFD field applications.

Advances in mechanisation capabilities, afforded by the rapid growth of the computer industry, have been wide spread. NDT is no exception to the variety of industries that have benefitted from these advances. This handbook is intended to improve the students’ understanding of phased array aspects of mechanised ultrasonic inspections. As well, some background is supplied with regard to the ancillary aspects of mechanised ultrasonic inspections, data acquisition and computer imaging.
